Dressing decubitus wounds is an important procedure that is performed to prevent infection, promote the healing process, and ensure the comfort of the patient with decubitus wounds (pressure sores). The procedure uses sterile material and appropriate treatment depending on the degree of skin and tissue damage. Decubitus wounds are often present in patients who have been immobile or immobilized for a long time, and proper dressing is key to preventing complications and speeding up healing.
First, the wound is thoroughly cleaned with saline or a mild antiseptic. Then appropriate treatments are applied - gels, masks or hydrogels, depending on the condition of the wound. After cleaning, the wound is covered with a bandage, gauze or specialized dressings, depending on the depth and stage of the wound. The bandage is changed 1-2 times a day, or more often if the wound is very moist.
Dressing decubitus wounds usually takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size and degree of damage to the wound, as well as the complexity of the procedure (eg whether debridement or specialized treatments are required). In the case of more serious and larger wounds, the procedure may take longer.
