Accompanying a doctor during patient transport is a process in which a doctor or a medical team accompanies a patient while he is being transferred from one healthcare facility to another, or to a specialized diagnostic or therapeutic procedure. This procedure is necessary when the patient requires continuous medical supervision and intervention due to a serious medical condition, when the patient's vital functions are unstable or when it is necessary to react quickly to potential complications during transport.

During the transport, the doctor is present to ensure the patient's stability, monitor his vital parameters (such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration and oxygen saturation) and react to any changes in condition. Before transport, the doctor assesses the patient's condition, prepares the necessary medicines, equipment and medical devices (such as respirators, infusions, monitoring devices) that will be needed during the journey. Also, the doctor can provide medication or treatment if the patient's condition requires intervention.

The duration of the transport depends on the distance and the condition of the patient. On average, transport with medical escort can last from a few minutes to several hours. During the entire period, the doctor must continuously monitor the patient's condition and react to all irregularities. At the end of the transport, the doctor assumes responsibility for the patient upon admission to a new facility or at the place where further medical intervention will be performed.
